Innocent graduated with an LLB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2018 and joined Garlicke & Bousfield to serve his articles the following year. He was admitted as an attorney in January 2022 was appointed as an Associate in the Litigation Department dealing with foreclosures, business recovery and deceased estate matters for banking clients. Innocent left Garlicke & Bousfield in June 2023 and moved to Johannesburg where he worked at a major South African bank as an in-house legal consultant.

In June 2025 Innocent left the bank and returned to Durban to work independently specialising in commercial litigation, banking related disputes and contract drafting. In February 2026 he re-joined Garlicke in Bousfield’s litigation team as an Associate handling bank recovery matters and commercial litigation. Innocent was promoted to Senior Associate in September 2026.
