Yvonne graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 1987 and joined Garlicke & Bousfield in January 1988. She was admitted as an attorney in 1990 and was offered a directorship of Garlicke & Bousfield Inc in March 1991 heading up the Estates and Trusts Department. Yvonne served as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee for some years and was elected as the firm’s Chief Executive Officer in 2021.
Her areas of practice include estate planning and administration and trust law, with related tax planning. In her personal capacity and on behalf of Garlicke & Bousfield Inc she acts as a trustee of numerous trusts, curator of persons under legal disability, and executor of deceased estates.
Yvonne also lectures to candidate attorneys in preparation for their Professional Examinations. In 2002 she was the South African speaker and representative at the International Bar Association where she shared the podium with speakers from Italy, England, Argentina, Switzerland, Canada and the Channel Islands.
She is currently serving on the Durban and Coast Board of the SPCA as well as on the Board of Trustees of the LHC Foundation, trading as “iCare”, an organization concerned with the plight of street children and their rehabilitation into society.
