Ashwin Trikamjee

Ashwin practices as an Executive Consultant at Garlicke & Bousfield specialising in commercial litigation and tax law. He was the former Secretary General of the International Bar Association for Southern Africa and has served as an Acting Judge in the High Court of South Africa and on the boards of many parastatals and major companies. Ashwin serves on the Disciplinary/Investigating and/or Mediation Committees of the KwaZulu Natal Provincial Council of the Legal Practice Council. He is also the Examiner for the Practice & Procedure Exams for the KwaZulu Natal Provincial Office of the Standing Committee on Legal Education and Chairperson of the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee of the South African Legal Practice Council.

Ashwin is a respected sports executive, having had major involvement with soccer since the 1970s and being instrumental in the unification of soccer in South Africa. Ashwin has served as a Council Member of the SA Soccer Federation, Chairperson of the National Soccer League (PSL), Vice-President and Founder of the South African Football Association (SAFA) and is currently Chairperson of the SAFA Appeals Board.

He is also a practicing Hindu priest and the President of the South African Hindu Maha Sabha, Secretary General of the National Religious Leaders’ Forum – now known as the Interfaith Council of South Africa – and the Chairperson of the 1860 Legacy Foundation.
